16-bit Pixel RPG

A short film that behaves like a mid-90s console RPG: a 320×180 indexed framebuffer scaled ×6 nearest-neighbour, a limited palette, dialog boxes that type, save-file lists, HP bars and an encounter swirl. Colour depth itself is the story tool — eras shift between 16-bit, 8-bit, 4-colour and faded through palette LUTs, and one protected colour threads through every reduction.

Chip music echoes like a cartridge slot.

How it works

  1. npm install inside the Skill folder, then build.mjs → validate + assemble the page.

  2. stills.mjs for a contact sheet; iterate until eras, UI and sprites read at size.

  3. render.mjs → film.mp4, verified by ffprobe + a full ffmpeg decode.
