Pixel Isle
A seamless pixel-art loop of a floating island under layered rain or snow, drifting clouds and flickering warm lights, all drawn by code.
A seamless ambient pixel-art loop of a floating island under layered weather and light: rain or snow in two depths, drifting clouds and mist, flickering windows, lamps and a campfire with soft bloom, chimney smoke, embers, fireflies, falling water and one lightning strike or a sweeping lighthouse beam. Drawn by code at low resolution and scaled up by whole pixels; the last frame flows into the first.
How it works
Create the project: the scene is checked and every seeded table and static layer is built once
Check stills, the loop seam, palette-only pixels and the whole-pixel upscale
Render the loop and check the film
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Pixel Story?
Pixel Story makes a narrative pixel-style product film with story beats and a soundtrack. Pixel Isle makes an ambient loop: one fixed place, no story, no text and no camera move, with layered weather and light that repeats seamlessly.
Is this a video model, and why is there no visible seam?
No model is involved: every pixel is drawn by code from your scene, inside your palette, so the same scene always renders the same film. Every moving part (raindrops, cloud bands, flicker, smoke, fireflies, windmill sails, the beacon) completes a whole number of cycles per loop, so the frame after the last one is pixel-for-pixel the first. Lightning is placed away from the loop point.
What do I need?
Node.js 22+, Chrome and FFmpeg, with HyperFrames 0.8.30 run through npx. No GPU is needed: each 1080p sample rendered in about 15 seconds with --software on a 10-core laptop. The films are silent by design.
