Thermal Keepsakes

A short film about the things someone keeps: a heat-camera silhouette, hand-made pixel objects turning on a tilted ring, a fall through the head, key words that send one object flying out, and an ending word that lands letter by letter.

Thermal Keepsakes

Write one brief: a set of hand-made pixel objects, a few captions, some key words and an ending word. In the film a silhouette glows like a heat-camera image, the objects turn on a tilted ring, the camera falls through the head, each key word sends one object flying out while black floods the frame, and the ending word lands one letter per beat.

How it works

  1. Create the project and look at stills of every scene and handoff

  2. Render the film with HyperFrames

  3. Check the film: format, full decode, still runs and caption timing

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Pixel Story, Letter Beat or Chaptered Motion Reel?

Pixel Story makes pixel product films with an audio chain, Letter Beat is a word-and-letter reveal on edit cards, and Chaptered Motion Reel shows one technique per chapter inside a HUD. Thermal Keepsakes is built around heat-camera silhouettes, a perspective ring of extruded pixel objects, a fall through the head and a cell-by-cell morph; its letter-per-beat ending is only the last scene. It is not a video model: every frame is computed by code from the brief, so the same brief always renders the same film.

Can I add my own voiceover?

Yes: give an audio file and per-word timings (words.json). Captions then follow your timings, the mix gets a static gain to -14 LUFS, and the check measures loudness and caption sync. The Skill does no speech recognition and nobody listens to the mix for you.

What if I have no GPU?

Render with --software. The 28-second 1080p sample took about three minutes including checks (64 s of capture, 77 ms per frame) on a 10-core laptop CPU; smaller machines are slower.
