Reading Digest Slides
Turn one long read, essay or report into a reading brief a committee can decide on: a masthead, argument beats on a rail, a headline figure, bar charts and a source ledger that keep checked facts, assumptions and open questions apart, two readings, discussion prompts and the decision asked.
Bring the approved text, the audience, the decision or learning goal, the claims you can stand behind and the page count; pictures optional. The Skill returns one offline HTML deck that edits in the browser and exports editable PowerPoint.
How it works
Ledger and pages
Your Agent confirms the approved text, the audience, the decision and the page count, lists every claim in the brief's ledger as fact, assumption or open question, then picks one layout per page and gives each evidence page the facts it cites.
Prepare and build
prepare-plan.py locks the preset, fills bar charts and the ledger table from data, writes source lines, draws abstract plates for empty picture slots and stops when a page breaks a ledger rule. kit.py compose, make-deck.py and verify-deck.py then build one offline HTML file.
Look and export
It opens the deck over local HTTP and checks every page for overflow, clipped text, chart labels, table rows and reading order, tries edit, undo, save and present, then exports PowerPoint and runs verify-pptx.py against the deck.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PowerPoint really editable?
Yes. Text boxes, the ledger table and chart bars are native PowerPoint objects with speaker notes on every slide, and no slide is a full-page picture. Plates, the quote mark, numbered circles and the beat-rail dots export as pictures.
What is the source ledger?
A list in the brief where each claim is a checked fact with a source, the team's assumption or an open question. prepare-plan.py refuses a figure or chart page that cites no fact and keeps open questions to the ledger, prompts and decision pages.
Where do the pictures come from?
From you first. Otherwise the bundled digest_plates.py draws abstract vector plates in six motifs (folds, contour, tiles, horizon, columns, orbit). They are decoration, not evidence, and the Skill calls no image service.
What are the known limits?
Pages do not reflow: inserting several large blocks pushes content past the bottom or under the caveat line. Fonts are Georgia, Avenir Next and Menlo with fallbacks, so PowerPoint substitutes missing ones. A heading left identical to the layout sample, such as "Reading A", is reported as leftover sample text.
What was tested?
Both example decks were rebuilt from a fresh unzip of the package and matched the published files. Every page was inspected in Chrome and in a LibreOffice render of the exported PowerPoint, and python-pptx edits to text, a shape, a table cell, a picture and a chart bar survived save and reopen. The file was not opened in PowerPoint itself.
