Photo Sphere Gallery: a Globe of Photos You Drag to Spin, Scatter and Open
Build a portfolio hero where dozens of photos are tiled over a globe you can drag to spin. It coasts after a flick, leans toward the pointer and keeps a slow turn; one button bursts the tiles into a loose wall and back, and a click opens a photo full size. SandBase generates the photos as 4x4 contact sheets that the Skill cuts apart, or you bring your own folder. CSS 3D only, no WebGL. The hero is followed by a full landing page: chapter titles, an intro, a product console drawn in HTML, feature cards, specs, stats, a quote, a call to action and a footer, with a moving glow and a floating section pill.
Bring a theme for the photos (or your own folder of photos), your brand, copy, links and language. The Skill returns a full landing page (index.html), a section to paste into an existing site, the runtime script and stylesheet, the cut-apart photos and the bundled open fonts.
How it works
SandBase draws each set of 16 photos as one contact sheet with white gutters; the Skill finds the gutters and cuts the sheet into separate photos.
The builder writes the page: every photo becomes a tile turned to face outward from a point on a sphere, spread evenly with Fibonacci spacing.
In the browser a drag sets the spin and tilt, a flick keeps it coasting, Scatter swaps every tile's transform for a spot on a wall, and a click opens the lightbox.
Frequently asked questions
What does a new gallery cost?
About $0.075 for every 16 photos through SandBase; the example used two sheets, 32 photos, for $0.15. With your own photos it costs nothing.
Can I use my own photos?
Yes. Point the builder at a folder of JPEG or PNG files and it skips generation.
Does it need WebGL?
No. It is CSS 3D only. With reduced motion turned on the globe stops turning on its own and Scatter switches without the flight.
Why do the links do nothing here?
The example runs in a sandboxed frame with its links disabled. In your own page they go wherever you set them in site.json.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. A dragged finger spins the globe and a tap opens a photo. Checked in a 390 px phone viewport.
Why is there no online generation?
Building a new scene needs a model key inside the sandbox, which the backend doesn’t support yet. Run the Skill with your own agent for now.
