Kolam Stack: Threshold at Dawn
Play a falling-block puzzle whose board is drawn as a sikku kolam line pattern: joined cells cross into a diamond lattice and free sides loop around the dots.
Bring a board size, the pieces, the line style (loop bulge, dot size, line width) and an optional palette. The Skill returns a downloadable Skill, an interactive demo and an example video.
How it works
Generate a project and edit the board, pieces, bag, rules, palette, opening rows and cover plan in kolam.json.
Build the offline HTML and run the geometry and rules tests and the bilingual interaction checks.
Download the Skill and explore its interactive demo and example video.
Frequently asked questions
Does it need a model key?
No. The scene runs offline and does not call a model.
What is a kolam?
Kolam is a drawing tradition of South India, especially Tamil Nadu, often made at dawn with rice flour at the threshold of a home. In a sikku kolam a line loops around a grid of dots and crosses between them without touching a dot.
Are these traditional kolam designs?
No. The lines follow how the cells on the board are joined: a simplified grammar driven by the game. The patterns are not traditional designs and need not form the single closed line a sikku kolam aims for.
Is it accessible?
It is designed toward WCAG 2.2 AA: full keyboard play on a focusable board with a visible focus ring, labelled buttons, pause, a live text status for the score and lines, and reduced motion without the ripple and flour. Full conformance needs testing with assistive technologies and expert review.
